Daniel Brennan, known to his friends as DJ, was born in Rathdrum, County Wicklow on 30th August 1920 and passed away in Blanchardstown Hospital, Dublin on 26th April 1998.

Daniel (DJ) Brennan was a dedicated family man. He met Bernadette Callanan while working in Dublin and fell in love. Daniel and Bernie worked in Birmingham, England during the war years. That was when DJ began supporting West Bromwich Albion and learned to play cricket. They married in August 1945 after the second World War and moved back to England where they worked for several years. Daniel and Bernie returned to Ireland in 1949, around the time of the birth of their third child, Bernie.
Daniel and Bernie moved into 95 Ratoath Road, Cabra West, Dublin where they had a further nine children. DJ and Bernie lived in 95 Ratoath Road, Cabra West for almost 40 years. They moved to Blanchardstown in later years when almost all of their children had grown up and moved out.
DJ Brennan worked in CIE for over 30 years and was a founder member of the National Busmens Union (NBU), later renamed to National Busworkers Union. He worked as a Bus Conductor in Conyngham Road Garage and later, when he was promoted to Inspector, he was based in Ringsend Garage. DJ Brennan worked as an NBU Union Representative for many years and represented the NBU members at the Labour Court. He was a very hard working and honest man who worked hard and earned the respect of his colleagues and the CIE management.
DJ Brennan is survived by his wife Bernie and their twelve children: Theresa, Margaret, Bernie, Eamon, Eileen, John, Anne, Sheila, Mary, Tony, Caroline & Kathy.
